Shepard Fairey Mural at 190 Bowery
[2019] I helped research and write an application for a NYC Department of Buildings permit to install a mural by artist Shepard Fairey on the roof of the historic Germania Bank Building in New York City.
“Both street art and water towers are inseparable from the New York City cultural and visual landscape. In the 1970s graffiti tradition began in NYC. It gained so much attention from critics and fans alike that it became cemented in the cultural and physical history of the city. Water towers, similarly, are an iconic part of the architectural landscape in New York. They have been profiled by everyone from the New York Times to the Museum of Modern Art. The water tower project at 190 Bowery will contribute to the visual landscape, cultural history, and the tradition of street art in New York City.
